The pipeline is a 1,172-mile underground state of the art 30” pipeline extending from the Bakken/Three Forks production area in North Dakota to Patoka, Illinois. The pipeline will transport domestically-produced, light, sweet crude oil from North Dakota to major refining markets in a more direct, cost-effective, safer and more environmentally responsible manner than other modes of transportation, including rail or truck.
The client has already spent over $3.54 billion in construction and development of the pipeline and continues to invest hundreds of millions a month into the U.S. economy as it moves to finish the project. A subsidiary of Energy Transfer Partners, L.P., started constructing the pipeline in June 2016. Its minor partners are Phillips 66, Enbridge, and Marathon Petroleum.
